According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, by 2018 more than 800k computing jobs will be created, making it one of the fastest growing fields, but universities will only graduate enough CS degree candidates to fill 53% of expected 1.8M CS jobs!

Dear Santa: A Recruiting Wish List for Small Business

December 11, 2011

I’m quoted in this Monster.com article talking about the need for more skilled labor in the technology arena, especially programmers.

From the article:
Candidates with the right job skills: There’s no shortage of available labor these days. However, there appears to be a mismatch between what is available and what is needed. Dina Moy founder of Inkba.com, Marianne Carlson, president and lead designer of Emcie Media and Dave Hatter, owner of Libertas Technologies, LLC are all asking Santa for the same kind of skilled labor — skilled IT candidates, specifically experienced programmers. Let’s hope there is enough to go around.

“We are a knowledge-based business. We do custom software development, so skilled employees (programmers with good communication skills) are imperative to the delivery of our service,” states Hatter.

Guerrilla Marketing Job Escape Plan – Book

December 10, 2011

I’m pleased to have made a small contribution to Battle Number 4, “Develop a Strategy That Gives You an Edge”, in the book “Guerrilla Marketing Job Escape Plan” by Jay Conrad Levinson and Andrew Neitlich.

I am a longtime fan of Jay Conrad Levinson and have used much of the advice in his book Guerrilla Marketing, 4th edition: Easy and Inexpensive Strategies for Making Big Profits from Your Small Business in my small business Libertas Technologies.

If you are looking to start a business, I recommend this book as a great primer to help you get going.

There is some good advice in this book, and we follow these principles in the web sites that we build for our clients at Libertas Technologies.
