It’s not just Google, we use the Microsoft Cloud for Exchange hosting and it has not been flawless. We have e-mail issues more often than I’d like, but it is cheap and easy.
The bottom line is that the “Cloud” is nothing more than overhyped marketing BS for outsourced and/or offsite hosting and or application services. When Software as a Service (SaaS) lost its panache, the marketing folks had to come up with a cool new term to create some buzz. While there can be many benefits to a cloud based approach, it is not without some serious concerns, namely security and reliability.
Be sure to carefully explore any cloud services and providers, and remember that putting all your eggs in one basket, i.e., putting everything is the cloud, is a very risky strategy.
